Owned and operated by the Delaware River and Bay Authority, the Cape May – Lewes Ferry is open year-round and has carried more than 50 million passengers since its inception on July 1, 1964; connecting Lewes Delaware with Cape May New Jersey.
New Jersey's southernmost peninsula has a long history as an ocean resort, but lately it's forging a new reputation for its thriving eco-tourism industry and its local wineries. Cape May is a great place to go dolphin and whale watching, spot numerous (and often rare) birds at the Cape May Bird Observatory, and stroll through the streets admiring stately Victorian homes.
